Shop of the Week: Ball of Yarn

Ball of Yarn is a wonderful Etsy shop that specializes in unique crocheted gifts and wearables. If you are looking for a handmade gift for someone special, this is the place to shop. Lovely bright colored baby bibs, luxurious hooded scarves, soft facial scrubbies, cute baby booties...if it can be crocheted, you'll find it at Ball of Yarn.

Karen, the shop owner, is a born crafter. She began sewing Barbie clothes on a plastic sewing machine as a child and went on to sew her own clothes. She's also into scrapbooking, stamping , gardening, and cross stitch. Karen was introduced to crochet by her mother-in-law, and she has taken this skill and turned it into an art. As a stay at home mom with three small children, Karen loves the opportunity to own her own business and sell her fiber creations, and she hopes to go back to school to study fibers.

Karen is very open to shipping international orders, just send her an Etsy convo and she will work up the shipping details. You may also ask for a custom order at Ball of Yarn--Karen is happy to work with you to create a special item just for you. Right now the turn-around time on a custom order at Ball of Yarn is about a week. Karen's most popular order is her stunning hooded scarf, which is available in both children's and adult sizes.

What is Karen's favorite shop item? Her adorable baby sleeper sack, According to Karen, "I love the idea of my children being warm AND safe in their crib."

Karen of Ball of Yarn is a lovely positive person who would be delighted to crochet something special for you. Her parting words on her shop profile sum up her happy outlook on life:

A false friend and a shadow
stay only while the sun shines.
-A Pocketful of Proverbs
